Biography
 
Cláudio Ribeiro is one of the most outstanding Brazilian artists. His international career as conductor has been taking him to several parts of the world. He studied in Brazil and then in Europe with Michel Tabachnik and Guennadi Rozhdestvensky. During this period, he also studied Opera and worked with great stars from the lyrical world. He has artistic registers in audio and video at RAI (Milan), Bavarian Radio (Munich), United States and Brazilian broadcasting, and has recorded many CDs, passing through a repertoire that goes from Renascence to the Contemporary Music. In 1980, he created and and was Artistic Director of the Rio Grande Do Sul Chamber Orchestra (Brazil). In 1981, he has elected Revelation Artist by the news agency of notice Musical Art of Rio De Janeiro. In 1983, he won the Second National Competition for Young Conductors (Brazil). After that, in Europe, he took place in opera productions in several theatres. Since then, he started an ascending career. He has been conducting important orchestras in many countries, side by side with sacred names of the musical world. Both in the orchestral or lyrical repertoire he has been receiving warm reception from public and critics. Under his baton have been playing names such as Micha Maisky, Ingrid Hables, Hagai Shaham, Nelson Freira, Katia Ricciarelli, Renato Bruson, Lucio Gallo, Raina Kabaiwanska, Pedro Burmester, Montserrat Caballé and many others. He is engaged to reveal Brazilian Music, and has been doing innoumerous first performances. Important composers dedicated works to Claudio Ribeiro. He is often invited for juries of National and International competitions. For his artistic trajectory he has been recognized with awards for merit and musical prizes. From 1993 to 2000 he was Associate Maestro of Blumenau Chamber Orchestra (Brazil), with whom he recorded six CDs. From 1995 to 1998 he was the Artistic DIrector and Principal Conductor of Porto Alegre Symphony Orchestra (Brazil), with whom he recorded two praised CDs. His name is in Brazilian Yearbook of Musicians and in the Brazilian Contemporary Music Guide. Claudio Ribeiro is also composer, lecturer and musical writer. Recently his works were published by Goldberg Editions. in 1999 he created a pioneer project of a Music Assemblage that intends to insert a new social and cultural view to the Music in Brazil.
